Hello to everyone. My name is Nathan. I am looking at getting a 1923 t bucket in a couple days. I have a guy that wants to trade my 66 galaxie for the t bucket. This t bucket has never been registered before. It was custom built using a 1991 s10 frame. I am a little nervous because I don't know much about registering a custom built car in NY. If any one knows any thing about it I would love to here any thoughts from you. The car needs a little work. The gas tank is in the front and needs to be moved to the back for inspection reasons. Here is a pic of the car I am looking at getting.

Welcome Nate. I think I would pass on a bucket built on an S-10 chassis. It just won't look like a regular bucket. And I would guess your Ford is worth more. There are tons of "T"s out there for sale.

Yea, same here. Sell your car and shop for a more traditional build! You won't be sorry. If you can, go to Mountain Home in July with cash!

Nathan, If you live in New York you need to make the trip to Dayton Ohio next week to attend the NTBA Nat's and you will see a lot of T Buckets in one place and I am sure some would be for sale. You can get some good ideas of what works or what you might want to wind up.

T's are for sale all the time everywhere and you can get a good deal, but you can also get ripped off - so take your time, learn what to look for, and keep an eye out for the right hotrod.

There MIGHT be a reason something's not registered properly... but I'm always the "buyer beware" type of guy.

S-10 frames are great for full fendered Ford and Chevy pickups and fat fendered cars. Been done lots of times.

T Buckets (for the most part) are a completely different animal. Everything's out in the open so you want something that can be visually pleasing, safe, and fun to drive.

Registering a home built car is a huge hassle. I would skip it just based on that alone. That is probably the reason he is ditching it in the first place. If I had to do it all over again I would buy a used car that is finished and already titled.
