Pride Cometh Before the Fall

Mike Hotrod46,

You have given me solid advice in the past but the car is already at the shop. I finally decided on my own not to go the high dollar route, go for the short block with the 400 crank and an RV cam, use my alumimun heads that only have 5000 miles, my 600 CFM vacuum secondary Edelbrock carb with 2000 miles, and solid state Mallory distributor with vacuum advance with 2500 miles. As you can see, a lot of recent parts to make that engine more street friendly will be reused. BTW the above changes plus taller radial rear tires changed my cruise milage from 13 mpg to 23 mpg, didn't change the high end and helped the low end.

Hi Ted,

You know me. wheel spin is not my thing. That is why I like the T so much more than any past rod I've had, they hook and book without much tire spin. I was happy with the old engine, it just wasn't set up the way I would have set it up, and as you know first hand, it had that minor vibration from 1850 to 1975 rpms. Glad to see that part is behind me.
