Starting issues

I just bought my 27 roadster a few few weeks ago. It’s only started one time since I got it home. It’s a spirit industries build with a SBC , automatic and 3K miles since built.

I’ve been trying to figure out the problem. When I tun the key, the electric fan turns on. When I turn the key to start, the fan speed drops down to slower rpms but there is no click or engaging of the starter. When I tested the s terminal by turning the key to start, the voltmeter doesn’t register power.

I replaced the battery first -it was bad but still have the same issue
I replaced the ignition switch today- still no click or engagement.

I can jump across the battery lead and s terminal with a screwdriver and the starter will engage. Just can’t get it working by the key switch.

Anyone have any ideas, I’m getting frustrated that I can’t drive it yet.

Hi guys i am mike & i have a 89 sidekick i bought from someone that was doing a frame off resto, i found the Distributor and has 2 wires one looks brown or a light orange the other is black , i would like to connect straight to my coil , but i don't know witch wire go to the coil & if it is positive or negative , can i get some help with the please ? thanks guys

First, the dist with 2 wires is not a points type ignition. Points distributors only have a single lead. Electronic or computer controlled distributors have 2+ wires.
Second, whenever someone has taken something apart and you are putting it back, check everything!
Third, to help with this, you should have the factory service manual. Failing this, at least a repair manual from a third party. Failing that, at least some online sourced wiring diagram.
Fourth, This is a T-Bucket forum. Welcome, but for best results try Suzuki forums, especially Sidekick related ones. While a lot of car people do have cross interests in other automobiles, this is a stretch.

This was quick result for info. It's not the wiring, but the component layout. It has an ECU. This means you need to connect things properly or risk damaging things. The distributor does not connect to the coil!
