The Day

The really sad thing is you can't even have fun at the local dirt cart track anymore because Johnny Q. Lawyer's little five year old wants that ten dollar trophy and your $1500 cart can no longer compete.

It just ain't fun anymore.

The fun factor is why several of the top NASCAR drivers are now also driving in Rolex and other series races. NASCAR for the $$ and other series for fun. I know Earnhardt did the other series for fun, and wasn't that cool to see Tony Stewart come so close to winning in the Rolex car a few years ago. laps ahead of the pack when a rear suspension piece broke and took him out with only a couple to go. they even tried to jam a 2/4 in the suspension to hold it together for a wile. you don't see that in nascar.

Well, I really don't want to start any kind of argument or fight, but I still believe the races are not fixed. I know, I know, that the powers that be, would like to see the real popular drivers (Dale Jr.) win, but he hasn't been winning. If it was like wrestleing, I would think he would have won several races, but he hasn't.

How can the powers, that fix the races, program in blowouts, and engines grenading? I guess they could slow down pit stops, but again, Jr's pit crew is always very fast, but no wins.

I guess I'll just stay Fat, Dumb, and Happy about NASCAR and the NHRA being on the up and up, and not fixing race outcomes.

I'm a believer!

I also choose to believe the races are not "fixed." I do believe they are "managed" to some degree to raise the excitement level... i.e. mysterious "cautions" late in the race, somewhat selective penalties like speeding on pit row, etc. Now the special race that Jr. won last year while driving the car honoring his old man (the only race he has won in years), well that one got me thinking. I wouldn't be surprised if the other racers let him win that one. It wasn't a points race, so it was no big deal to the chasers.
