Recently I had to thread a piece of stainless rod. After looking I realized I was out of thread-cutting oil. Picked up a can of "never-seize"[that I'd neglected to put away] & read the back of the can, viola, talk about good stuff, cut nice clean threads w/ little effort, Lesson, read the can, stuff worked great!!!

I find that anti seize works great for retapping holes too. The tap glides through the cutting process and I have never had one gall in the hole since doing that.

That is great information, I'll pass it on to some of my friends.

When I tap threads I use a stick of wax from DuAll.

In a pinch I've used synthetic motor oil - works.

I wonder how this would work on a lathe? Just a thought.
