Went to the races today

I went to the ADRL drag races today and seen a hot rod that I thought some of you might like to see. The other reason for this post is to show what this guy did to keep the water out of his seats. Needless to say it was a rain out but I'm going back tomorrow to I hope for better weather. The jet cars were supposed to run tonight and I really wanted to see them but I wasn't willing to stick out the second batch of storms. 1 1/2 hours drive time each way to see a total of an hours worth of racing. Welcome to Michigan.

tarps a good idea.....But, it looks like it will a big hot tub.

Good, ol' 131. The rain just turned it from one of the dirtiest race tracks I've ever seen to one of the muddiest race tracks I've ever seen. We went some rounds at a points meet up there, one year, and the check bounced. We won the race the next year and they were going crazy, chasing down all the concession stand cash boxes, because we refused to take their check. :D

Too bad you couldn't have sent that rain down our way. You could have enjoyed your day and we sorely need rain. It's too late to save the corn, but the water would be welcome, all the same.

Mike,
Seems like that was a common way of doing business in the day. Reminds me of Bill Hilscher and his Green Valley Raceway just North of Fort Worth. He use to book in a number of Funny Car shows and if the weather was bad or fan turn out low he would lock himself in the ticket booth with two pistols and cut the money. You had to get paid through the little window. It was a standing joke that when you saw him heading to the booth and his pockets were bulging that your money was going to be short. Those were some fun days for sure.
Speaking of Green Valley, I ran across this mother load of pictures of Texas tracks and racers the other day. I don't know where this guy got all these pictures but they are great. A lot of history here. Hope you all enjoy it.
