    The question on everyone's mind

It's very surprising that there seems to be no "instructions from beyond". He always impressed me as a man who was well prepared for any event. Hopefully he provided a yet to be uncovered manual to be implemented in this case.

    Mike's obituary

It's really sad. Didn't always agree with him, but he was a man I respected very much.

    Central IL Checking In

Welcome from Bloomington (aka joke city/stoplightville) Nice frame to start with!

    Yet another upgrade

I gotta admit when I first joined and started posting I thought I "knew" better. I mean tune it(this forum), and drive it like your average car. Maintain it don't jack with it. I was absolutely wrong about all that. This is more like a fuel dragster; maintainence between every round(often) and...

I need some help with a color.

The Ford red on the 223 6 cyl sounds close to what you were looking for. Also, you may want to hit your local paint mixing shop and ask if they have any "error" quarts. Sometimes, folks will order paint and for whatever reason not pick it up. You can usually get a really good deal, and some...

    Loaning out tools

I stopped it when I told whoever wanted to borrow anything that first I get 1 free night with their; (pick one) mother/sister/daughter/wife/niece/granddaughter. Lost a really good friend from my childhood, but his wife was sure a lotta fun. ;)

    New to everything

Welcome Ritchie. That Lincoln 180 is a nice rig, think you will enjoy it. When you get good at welding; you may be able to trade labor with other buddies that are better at things you ain't. Helps to build friendships too. I would also recommend doing as much reading research and studying...

How do you change oil filter?

Short Mopar filter is a 5281090ba(bb,bc they change pn's a lot). Dad used to knock a nail into the lowest part of the filter, pull the nail, then open the oil fill cap. it drains pretty good that way. Hope this helps.

    Rod & Custom Magazine RIP

I also subscribe to 5.0 mustangs and ff; looks like they got the axe as well. It has to be tough to be print media in a digital world. Heck it's probably tough to be digital in today's economy. Sad though; I've had a subscription to R&C since they came back. Now more folks out of work.

    Engine mount help!

The bosses on the side of the block are the same, except for the later LT1. The old industry number was 2267. Napa sells it as a 602-1054 I think. Don't have any catalogs in front of me, and I need a new bulb for my Fiche machine. Mike is correct the new LS1 is a 4 bolt mount. To the original...

    Color opinions

When you go to paint the engine, shoot it first with a quality engine primer color. It give the paint a good "tooth" to hold onto, and it makes the surfaces even. Follow up with some thin color coats and it should last and look good for a long time. Hope this helps, don't forget to post pics...

That Falcon of yours is way beyond the living end, Jay. Wife didn't see the screen but sure noticed the big grin I got.

    Leaking AOD :-(

The AOD has a vent in that area, as well as the back of the trans. First thing is to verify the fluid level(yeah I know you probably have, but this time check it in neutral, not park). And verify the rear trans vent is able to vent properly. These are inexpensive baseline checks, try these...

    I'm all choked up.

Dad used to say "Cheap aint good and good aint cheap." I've been in parts for over 30 years both at a jobber store and at dealerships. Mike told the absolute truth in his post earlier. I would add there is no excuse for not knowing what you are doing. If you are gonna take that paycheck at the...

    Windshield Frame Material

Could one maybe use a dowel(s)/stud in the windshield register? Facing up into a slot or hole it would be hidden by the bottom of the frame. Just a thought.

    Kind of an odd question

Thanks I intend to. I bought a Model A frame from Williams Street Rods, it fits that really well. Have a spare S10 rear axle, 62 283, and a lockup 350 left from selling all my old hot rod parts this fall. I think ExJunk(Jim) hit it on the head; it doesn't really matter what it is, since the...

    Kind of an odd question

Yep agree with that. The straight windshield register looks like a T, the shell is much larger overall. Actually bigger than a 32. I thought maybe like a 24 Dodge or something similar. The cowl fits a Model A perfect, which goes along with my build plans. Hopefully I can get started soon...
