Adding Matt to furring strips

I used a two part expanding foam to the inside panels with the body on its side. I then ground and sanded it to shape before laying a couple layers of glass. This resulted in a recessed inner panel which allowed me to make my upholstery panel more level with the upper lip of the body. All in all this makes a very solid body that has a very loud thump sound when you give it a a hard rap on the outside of the body.

I wonder if Great Stuff polyurethane foam would work too? The 2 part stuff for marine use (boats) is expensive.
