Front hydraulic shocks for a Spirit chassis...

My shocks are Pete & Jake's shorties. The measurements are the same as the SM 300s here. I mis-measured when I designed the mounts and they ended up about 1" too short for these shocks. So far, it hasn't been a problem.
 
I wonder if the old 48 Plymouth shocks would work, or was it Merc shocks? Dang, now I'll hafta spend a few hours checking RockAuto until I find the part number again...

IIRC, they are the exact same as the P&J Shorties, just not chrome.

I was a little off, and that's not the first time anyone has said that...

1949 Plymouth -

5752 has 5/8" X 1 5/16" eyes, compressed length of 8.625" and extended of 12.750", has a 1-3/16" bore and fits 47-54 Willys Jeep and 1949 Plymouth. It is a Sensa-Trac Passenger

555002 has 5/8" X 1 5/16" eyes, compressed length of 8.625" and extended of 12.750", has a 1-3/8" bore and fits RV and is a Gas-Magnum RV.

That's what I use and just cut off the upper dust shield, then paint.
 
Here is how I did mine. I coppied lee's frame brackets and made new spring purches with the shock brackets added on. Give me you thoughts good or bad.
