Busted Radiator

I had to order a new radiator and will be using a electric fan .
My question is how do you mount it with out messing up the fins with the ties.?
This is partly what caused my old one to fail it started leaking around one of the ties and after closer inspection it had wallowed out a sizable hole .!
My radiator shop wanted a little over a 100 bucks to repair this one but couldnt do anything about the fins .

Somewhere I saw a photo showing how a fellow mounted his with small Alum. angle, from the sides.. Why are you needing an elict. fan? will the engine not work for your fan? I have most always use the waterpump to drive all my fans... But some use such short Rads, and high engines that makes for a bad combo in the fan dept. Good luck with your project..

I used a piece of .062 aluminum sheet. And mounted the fan to that.

Rick, are you having ANY cooling problems at all? That is a nice BIG wide fan, the only thing I see that is bad at all with that set up, unless there is room for air to get out past all that extra Alum, blocking a lot of fins??? I could be wrong, and if it is cooling great, kick me.. hehe  PS, I was also wondering why you did not leave the steering box stock and let the pitman are pointing up, rather than down?? Just wondering.. :)

I keep telling these guys THERE'S is in the wrong place.Got a Ford ?put a ford in it.

Their is a local roundy round place that sells the alum shroud by walker i think and its cheap 25 bucks if i remember.

Well Crud !!
I got my new radiator today and it look really nice very good work but the UPS guy's where rough with it ,,
Sooooooooo do I try and straighten it or try and get it replaced ? :)

REPLACE That is what UPS has insurance for.

my first one was like that. i sent it back and asked them to use the two pices of 1/4"plywood that i packed their radiator in. they didn't and i sent the second one back too. the third one came with the plywood. no problem with that one.

send it back and call them about packing the new one.

Man thats one of my biggest complaints with the shipping people. When Total shipped my body it came three days later and when we pulled it off the truck the driver said sign here and said he had to go so we drug the box accross the street to my garage and opened it up and BAMMMM!! Who ever loaded it had put the forks of there Hi-Lo through the body in the cowl area.Called them they sent a adjuster out and the determination was i could have done it or the trucking company.Basically tough.Brian said he would replace it but i had to ship out of my pocket and i would have to wait 6 weeks so i said _____well you know what i said and fixed it myself.Old Dominion Sucks.

I had a deal 9 weeks ago where a machine tool spindle got damaged in shipping. When i removed the cardboard box cover i saw the damage right away. Number one i had never seen spindles shipped in a cardboard box (Mistake on the Mfg Part) normaly a wood crate only or at least in the past 15 years thats been the shipping method. But the guy at %^$$# freight was an ass O so i didnt say a word. So i had japan ship me another. The adjuster came out with an attitude too so i didnt mention the carboard box to him either. I showed him the shipping damage to the 64,345.89 dollar spindle. My company got their check yesterday. It doesnt pay to be a richard noggin.
