cooters T bucket build

You could do it either way. Start fresh with all glass, or cover the plywood.

If you decide to cover the plywood, cut back the edge where it meets the body and wrap it with glass.

So that it's a glass/plywood sandwich and no wood edge exposed.

Make it a real project for the kids and ask them to come up with a working solution. No help from you other than a set of parameters and goals and see what they come up with.
Kind of like finals in school.

Cooter: Have you solved the oils spray issue with the new valve covers? We were running the same finned ones as you on The Purple Powder Pickup's 283 and had the same issues. Thinking about chucking them for some ones with a baffle - thoughts?

YES!!!!! I no longer have oil spray. I love my baffled valve covers. Clean as a pin. I now have my factory GM pcv valve installed and she breathes fresh air in chrome filter on passenger side. Best thing I ever did.

Guess that's what we'll do. No wonder you can find those covers so cheap at swap meets - they look ok, but actually BLOW!

They didn't know any better back in them days. Didn't take me long to figure it out. They knew better than to put breather hole directly over a rocker arm!!! These new covers dropped a baffle between the rockers no flyin oil right out the saturated breather anymore. Mr. Gasket covers painted orange. No blow just show.

A lot of aftermarket valve covers are insufficient and cause oil consumption. I never understood why they didn't offer factory style baffles to install for guys who aren't running girdles, etc. I've tried numerous fixes, some better than others.
