cooters T bucket build

You did the whole procedure right. I would just use a thicker material. 1/8" 90° angle mild steel.

What gives stainless such great corrosion resistance also makes it not bond so well. It's slippery, so to speak.
Thanks man. I looked at your build and tried to do it right but couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. Round two should work.

Cooter, if I understand it, your lid will hinge at the rear edge, like mine. I use a pair of Dakota Digital linear actuators to open/close it:

Looks great!

Are you bending those brackets in a vise or a press brake? When bending thick material like that, it's better to use a punch with a larger radius. Maybe 1/8" or larger. In this case the size of the radius will not have any effect on the function. It will stop the stainless from cracking.

I just wanted to bend it by hand to tweak it. They shattered. So I went to home depot and bought angle brackets out of steel. Problem solved

R&D. From the words of a good friend. Rip off & duplicate. I stole his idea. Oh how I love simple function.

There's a name for that, cooter, it's KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) and I try to follow that religiously.

best way to build these corners? cut pieces from scrap or sand corners back on angle and lay fiberglass mat and build it that way? im thinkin.

I'd flip it over and grind the underside areas to be built up to a gradual bevel. Attach any type of non-stick panel and build up corners with layers of oversized precut glass.
