Driveshaft to Body Clearance

At ride height, how much clearance do you need between the driveshaft and body? I'd rather not cut a tunnel in the rear of the body if I don't necessarily need to. I'm just not sure how much travel an average t-bucket has in the rear.

Depends on your suspension , spring rate ,bump stops ,etc. but GENERALLY 2-3 " up AND down....

The clearance number I've been trying to find is the extra gap to leave between the shaft and the inside of the tunnel, when the driveshaft is at it's highest...the space needed to allow for chassis flex, engine & transmission mount flex, bump stop compression, etc.
