Hello folks,
I've wanted a track T since building a model of one in Junior High (about 35 years ago!). Now that I'm retired from the Army and getting some bills paid off, I'm ready to start building one.
I built an aluminum head 454 BBC back in 1988 and dropped it into a '63 Chevy pickup (short wheelbase, fleetside model) - and was able to pull the front left wheel off the ground whenever I had traction... what a wild ride! But with *soft* drum brakes all around I ended up giving the engine to my brother and the rest of it to my cousin, who is much more skilled than I at paint & body work.
Anyway - by gathering information and motivation from all the various Internet hot rod sites, I am planning a sprint-inspired track T roadster using a Class Glass Performance widened body and home-built space frame, with either a 302 Ford or a straight 6, either one with a T5 trannie. My wife has budgeted a workable amount of funds - starting after Christmas - so I am cleaning up the shop and getting things prepped for work to begin as soon as possible.
We'll keep you informed as things progress.
Brad
