Yes he does and for 60 dollars it is a good deal. But I get all the metal I need for free so I made my own. Plus the trans is up to high between frame rails for that design to work. I did make it bolt in for future work.
I will have a solid piece a little further back in the form of a driveshaft loop that will help. I will come off of that with a couple diagonal pieces to form an x or k brace.
 
So I have the motor and transmission mounts all done and taking brackets off rear end and grinding clean. Does anyone know of a supplier that I can get brake caliper brackets for an s-10 rear that is 2.75 inches in diameter?

I can make them. Are you sure about the 2.75"? Most are 2.625"

For those interested here is a cheap way to do disc brakes on the S-10 rear. No Parking brake, but in most places you don't need one anyway. Use a rear disc rotor for a 1966 Corvette. The studs holes need to be opened up from 7/16 to 12mm. Front calipers, and pads from a 1971 Impala. Then the 2 weld on caliper brackets.
 
Ron, I am writing it in my build log book (where I write notes and various tips) that you will be able to set me up with the rear brakes. I will measure the axle again. Thanks
 
After dilly dacking around with different designs with the rear end I decided on using a lift bar design another poster used for his car. Got the rod ends, threaded weld in bung, and tubing for that today. Also got the tubing to make the front radius rods and rod ends. The clevis's will not be here until monday but going to be out of town until then anyway. With motor mounts and trans mounts done & the rear end brackets chopped off and ground away I am looking forward to the next few weeks of fabricating. Need to order the spring, shackles and pivots from Ron and I will have a roller within the month. Progress, slow but still progress. Need to research on the front hair pin designs and see what works best for me. Any advice on the radius rods, fire away.
 
Standard radius rods or hairpins about the only ones I know. Split wish bones, maybe? Spirit use to have a unique style. I always put a brace/T support on the rear rods so they don't bend under hard acceleration.

I was interested in this post from Ron since I am running an s10 rear. I went and talked to a good friend of mine at the parts store to get prices and after a little research he was able to find that the same rotor is used on 65 to 86 corvettes. He also found that rear calipers from a 79 to 85 El Dorado, Riviera, or Tornado will fit were GM intermediate calipers mount, use standard D154 pads, and have a mechanical e-brake. Get some caliper brackets from Ron and you can have your choice of e-brake or no e-brake depending on the calipers you decide on. I hope this helps some folks with their project. :)
 
Many second generation 2 and 4 dr Blazers/Jimmys, maybe 4.6 powered pickups too, but I've never worked on or owned one...came from the factory with a nice rear disc setup...including hat type rotors with separate internal parking brakes, not calipers with a lever etc.
Personally I don't get the draw of rear disc brakes on such light cars...but to each his own.
I removed the WS6 disc setup on my Roadster and went with regular drums and the resulting clean and simple park brake hookup.

I wondered about that as well. I have 11" drums on the rear, I don't know how much more clamping is necessary.

Disc brakes out perform drum brakes by far and are usually lighter and a lot less ugly, for lack of a better description. 9" Ford drums are HUGE compared to a disc rotor setup. Try stopping your bucket from 100 mph and you'll see/feel the difference.

Mickey of Total Performance use to tell people about sprung weight and reciprocating mass when brake performance was in question. That is why he used Hurst/Air-hart rotors on the front of his builds. Most of us go with the cheapest brake system we can find and they work great if setup properly. Go with the safest you can afford. JMO

Absolutely...but you see the major difference in performance from a front brake comparison, which we aren't talking about here.
Drums vs discs aren't nearly so dramatic when you are comparing rear brakes only, on a car that already has front discs.
Ya gotta pick your battles and I simply decided that a dead on reliable park brake/emergency brake that gets used often, was more important to me than the slight advantage rear discs would offer on a slowdown from some excessive speed that the car would hardly ever see anyway.

Some, not all, 9" drums are huge but others are much smaller and a great deal lighter than the largest ones.
I'm running S10 pickup units on my 8.5 and they are really small and light compared to the biggest 9" units.

As for ugly...well...the drums look MUCH cleaner to me personally...but then again I was running that homely WS6 setup with clunky calipers using big levers and springs, plus the calipers were opposed with the left one in front and the right one to the rear.
The S10 rear disc setup is much cleaner looking than the nasty WS6, as are a lot of other setups.

My 9 has chrome backing plates, so from the inside, they are very clean. The drums can be painted to match the car. I agree that disc are superior, but those drums stopped a 4000 pound truck plus payload with no problem, the 1800 pound bucket will be no issue. I have also had brake fade at high speed with disc. The size of the brake is a big factor From my experience. I will use disc on the front.
 
Okay talked to Ron at RPM today and ordered spring, shackles, pivots, steering arms, spring perch, rod ends and frame gussets. Come hell or high water I am having a roller by end of this month! Decided on a vega box and traditional steering and will order those things next month. Going to order the headers and radiator later in the week and will be making some noise soon! lol Want to make sure I have the headers so I don't have any clearance issues with steering parts or anything else. Figure I need the radiator to nail down things to start on a hood. Plus I can fire up the beast cause I need all the motivation I can get to get me thru these next couple of months! HATE the long ass winters up here. But on a good note it hasn't been nothing like last years brutal winter!!!!!

I am with you on the Winter! I also hate it.
 
Thanks for the reminder!!!! lol The forecast is mild for this weekend and I will take it. low to mid 30's for highs and low 20's for lows. Can't complain about that for this time of year. December was really mild. I would move to Texas but the wife is pretty deeply rooted. I want to go somewhere where winter is about a month long! lol Just enough to put the bike away for service. lol
