The excitement is building

My friend and room mate in Houston (1980's) drove the Pink Panther drag boat (before I knew him) an unblown hydro boat and raced against Eddie Hill. He raced against Eddie but didn't like him, thought he cheated on the start of a race.

Instant Update . . . .

Josh just sent me a couple new progress pics, . . . . . Getting the top set to the body and the windshield in place

And if I'm not mistaken, that's my frame in the corner there at about 6:10 in on the new "Live at 11:05" video.

Thanks . . .

From looking at what pics I could find, I thought the tops had an oval window with a lip around it molded in when they make them, but it looks like it's a plain solid back waiting to have whatever I might want cut out. . . .

I'm thinking triple sevens (7 7 7, in a nice fancy font) since I work in a casino and have been pretty lucky might be rather unique. . . . . . or maybe just 2 7 T

My top is from Spirit Cars. I was given a choice of window ( opening ) shapes. I chose the rectangle hole , it's easier to modify .The top featured in their video had an oval window ( opening ). My roof is about 3/16" thick.

I asked Josh, and he told me it comes without a cutout for the kits, unless I wanted something added.

I'll take it without any cutout, and then decide what I want when I can see it in front of me.

I'm leaning towards either 3 or 5 fancy looking sevens (7's) with the middle one being tallest, and smaller ones to each side so it still mimics an oval shape.

Kinda fits in with working in a casino . . . .

Are you going to use dice headed bolts and use a one arm bandit arm as a shifter? and have a "Lucking Lady" on the cowl?

I'm not too likely to get that carried away with the gambling theme, but maybe if I replace the spindle in my little CNC mill with a laser, I could laser etch a logo into all the bolt heads to match the back window . . . .

Very impressive.
This car is going to look great.

Love the CNC too, that is on my wish list.
I should have had you do my valve covers..lol

Mid Weekend Update . . . .

So after that last attempt to put my new crate motor on it's engine stand 2 weeks ago, during which it bent the cheesy attaching fingers to where I was certain the motor would fall forward to the ground if I let the cherry picker tension off, I got one of these . . . . . a little pricey, but it was the best I could find and considering the cost of the motor, it was probably cheap insurance.

If you didn't see the pics of the stand bending as I let the motor's weight down on it, here's that pic:

For comparison, here's the motor setting on the stand with the new mounting plate . . . This thing is really rock solid.

After the initial test, which showed no sag at all, I pulled the motor back off to install the flex plate and put it back on the stand so I could put on the starter and front mounted bits.

I ran out of light, so I'll get some more pics tomorrow . . .

Of course to make some space to work in, I took the old 305 off that stand and put it with the next load of junk for the dump . . .

You've got a very nice bucket coming together that you will have a blast in. Question, have you ordered a 2nd set of new rear tires yet? I actually had you in mind when I posted the 600 horse bucket video. That thing breaks cheaters loose effortlessly.

Haven't ordered the next pair of rear tires yet . . . I may have overly optimistic expectations of longevity.

And I'll need to get a driveshaft bought and ordered, so there's still some major outlays before I can do the first burnout.

I have these:

as they were the biggest I could find, either radial or bias.

Just thinking about the cost of replacements may help keep my lead foot a little lighter on the go pedal.

That sounds like one of those New Year resolutions that are forgotten in February . . .

You're probably right about that . . .

We do get a little cost of living increase in our social security this year, but that's barely enough for 1 tire a year, if that . . .

Considering that these big inch motors are lucky to see anything more than single digit MPG, I better start looking for a second job for once this gets on the road :D
