"Black Dahlia"

Saw 15" beauty rings at O'Rileys for $14. If you are on the fence again cheap way to look.

Ya know, I was trying to remember where I had seen them, other than Speedway. I'll check the stores near me. At that price, they may be installed sooner than I expected.;) Thanks!

Rings will look great with all that black to show them off.

Yep.... you and Jim called it right. When I stood back and looked at the wheels installed, there was really no guessing about it. I'm hoping you guys can see how the center caps, lug nuts and soon rings, steered me from a "competition" theme.

On a side note. Remember the spacers I made to lower my tie rod? I got the idea from a HAMBer. He made his 1.25". Well, I made mine .625" and they seemed to clear. Today, when I was taking the above pics, I noticed some paint scrapped off my tie rod. The tie rod was rubbing on the edge of a spring shackle. So.... I found some tubing I had left over and I'm going to make mine 1.25". Like I should have done in the beginning!

Here the pic of one of my short spacers. They cleared, but not when the wheels are at a full turn.

Can't wait to see it! That'll be a nice touch:thumbsup:
PS - Love those rear tires!

I'm really digging the tread pattern, too.

Lovin' it! Go Fred.

Thanks. Being on a shoe string budget, this stage may not seem like a big deal to some people, but it is to me. There have been and probably will be more times, when I just say "Screw it." and want to quit. But it's not in me to quit, even when it would seem the logical thing to do. As a result, the thanks and input from you guys means more than you'll ever know.

Progress is progress. I can relate to feeling like moving on. I've been inendated with a constant stream of stuff that has monopolized my time, energy, and shop space, so not much progress. Just one of those stages in life, I guess. Watching other builds, etc, keeps my mind in it. Don't get discouraged, you will get there!

That's what I thought, thank you sir..I hope to be a roller by end of next week so I can start my channel job.....cannot wait for your updates

Cut and painted a new pair of spacers the other night for my tie rod and will install them tonight. They're 1.250", like they should have been in the beginning. When I was at Loew's getting longer bolts, I noticed some spacers that are 1.5" and coated a nice shiny zinc. I thought of using them instead, after cutting them down, but I'm not sure how long the shiny would last. Any thoughts on how long they'd stay that way? Maybe apply a clear coat?

Oh....... I painted the rear end cover, too. That rusty cover finally got to me!:D

Okay....... was advised the zinc won't last, so I'll use the painted spacers.

Just finished the spacer swap. Plenty of clearance and the scrub line looks good.

Sorry, can you use stainless if you prefer the shiny finish? Idk if you are associated with anyone who works as a machinist, but it shouldn't be an expensive thing to have cut if you can't source them. Just a thought.

Leaving them as they were was a passing thought. If it could be easily done, fine. If not, I'd paint them. I chose to paint them and be done with it. Besides, they really wouldn't be seen anyway.
