Edit: 0.270 thick.

Sorry for your loss Fred. I'm sure she will be following your build along with the rest of us.

I looked at the beauty rings O'Reilly's sells for $12.99 each, today. They are chrome and 2" wide. Speedways are polished stainless steel and $24.99 each. They are 2 9/16" wide.

The O'Reilly's brand looked good, nice chrome, but were tweaked a little and just plain felt flimsy. Maybe they straighten out when installed? I used the Speedway style before and I liked the look, plus they were very well done. Beyond that, the missing 9/16" on O'Reilly's just bugged me.

So, I'm going to wait and order the ones from Speedway next week.

I've seen the cheap chrome stuff rust pretty bad. Your better off with stainless, imho.

Okay...... the safety washers came a day early! But I won't put them on until tonight. Hell, man..... it's 103* in the shop! I'm glad I Googled a pic to see how they install. I would have had them reversed! Now, I see how they function and they make perfect sense.

And...... done.

Sweet little chassis! Now . . . what are your plans for the power train?

I have a friend who's been building an engine for me. I've been paying him installments when I can. I'll be getting with him to see where he left off. I had stopped payments, while I finished my chassis. Which he was cool with. Now that the chassis is done, we'll be getting back on track. It's a nicely warmed over SBC. A little better than my last engine from him, which was VERY nice. Originally, I had wanted a BBC, but I decided that I really didn't need it. He was a little disappointed, but understood my decision. This engine should come out to be a 383 ci. Which is way more than what I'll need.

Transmission will be a 350TH. I had been looking at cores to have one rebuilt, but here in town a rebuild is more than a new trans! So, I'll be going with a new one with a 2,200 stall.

That's a nice sounding package. Does the Speedway tranny retain the kickdown feature? Some of the ones I've seen online are manual only.

Yes, it does. I probably won't connect it though. So, it doesn't really matter.
