"Black Dahlia"

I'm really going to try and get mine as low as possible. I have a 36" inseam and it never bothered me, but I've had people, that wanted a ride, but couldn't or wouldn't climb in. My gal was 4' 11" and I'd pick her up and set her inside.;)

Progress report: Rear end cover and a couple "treats" will be this week. O'Reilly's has the cover WITH a gasket and bolts for $18! The same one Speedway sells for $25. Go figure. Beauty rings will be next week.

Went by O'Reilly's and they have to order the rear end cover from the manufacturer. So, it $18 + $7 tax. Will be here next week.:( BUT, I'm okay with that because it comes with the gasket and bolts. Everyone else's didn't, so I'll still save some coin.:)

Still in a good mood because the treats are on the way. A breather for the rear end and stainless steel spindle stops will be here Thurday or Friday.:D

Edit: $7 shipping, not tax

Fred to get your car really low you should have z'ed the front end and more kick in the rear like 1926 Model T RPU, which was either a real close or direct copy of the NEHR roadsters out of Detroit. With those cars you'd probably have a hard time getting out of the car, they are so low.

I looked at them and they are stupid low. Looks like a nice product, just not my cup of tea.

I didn't like the scoops on the side. In rain or cold it will blow up your pants leg.
The side cowl scoops that I saw really improves leg room. I briefly considered adapting something similar into my 23, but opted not to. I am a fair weather guy nowadays, so the cold or wet wouldn't be much of an issue except perhaps in the fall at night. One could get enginuative and devise functional doors. They changed the look too much for my particular build flavor.

I didn't have anything to do and clicked on their web site. Seems they're for sale.

My treats came today. A breather for the rear end, stainless spindle stops and some .50" clamps to hold the battery cable and other wiring. The clamps are me thinking ahead, so I don't have to attempt drilling holes with the engine and body in place

I'll mount every thing tonight.

Took a nap and knocked out the stops and breather.

Pardon the dust. The perils of painted black.

The rear end had a 2"x 1/4" fitting with a flared end coming from the housing. I decided to keep it and attached the breather to a section of tubing. Secured with clamps.

At first, I thought that was dust in the pics, but it turns out to be camera related. Might be time to upgrade.

As much as I want to hold back, running a battery cable and a fuel line close together/ in the same clip, is not a good idea. Any problems with the battery cable going to ground near a fuel line is a recipe for disaster. Check out some regs for racing and see what they say about this set up.

Thought back about this post today and I'm going with separate clips. Coming off the same bolt and running above the fuel line for rear wiring and the battery cable. I ordered the clips last week and already have them.

Still wondering why you wanted to hold back, Gerry?o_O

Never really want to 'criticise' other peoples work. Its hard enough to do a build on your own, without someone else commenting on things that are not done to their individual ways. In saying that most, including yourself, do appreciate constructive comments.

I'm fairly sure all of us are here to build our cars the best we can. Some have more experience than others. But I'll listen or read whatever someones suggest, regardless of their experience. I think I've stated that before. If something looks unsafe in another persons build, that's not a critique, that's a safety issue and needs to be addressed.

Back to T Buckets.

As much as I wanted to install those clips last night, well....... I was lazy and didn't do them. Maybe tonight?

Got tomorrow off, so the clips WILL get put on tonight. I'll order the beauty rings and they'll be here Thursday, along with the rear end cover. It's looking to be a nice close to the week.:)

So, I installed the clips to keep my battery cable from being in contact to the location of my perspective fuel lines. All is good. A day later, I found the other pair of spacers Ron had sent me. They were thicker than the zinc ones I had found. The zinc ones were 1/8' wall and Ron's are 3/16". So I trimmed, painted and installed them.

Stronger and safer.

Then, the rear end cover came. I swapped it out, filled the rear end with gear oil and called it done. Oh... no leaks.

Later last week, the beauty rings came. Changed the whole look of the chassis. Thanks again, Jim and Gerry.;)

Needing something to do and having a little spare cash, I ordered a brake peddle. Should be here later today. I also ordered the transmission drop out from CCR. I figure it'll be here Friday.

Well...... speak of the devil. Stainless Steel housing and a rather flimsy rubber pad. I'll probably use a bit of epoxy to keep the pad in place. But I'll wait until it's "road tested" to do that. Might be okay as it is.
