this tape is level. even on the side skirts for engine bay. I leveled the tape on both sides. carried body line forward parallel to frame. radiator might be 1/64" lower than cowel

3 3/4" tape is 3" that's 6 3/4" one 15" fan from speedway book is 4 1/2" deep. getting tight in here.

Still trying to justify everything with a tape measure. Put the front end on and wheel it outside.
It should fit thru the side door.
I don't know why people don't run hoods more often. Gives the car a modified look. Hold it down with leather belts and buckles. Old school.

ill get her outside and get some more pics. that battle flag goin on front. think ill build a hood with a gold firebird decal.
 
If the tape housing is 3" deep and you are reading 3 3/4" on the tape you have 6 3/4",like you stated the first time. Plenty of room for an electric fan. You should have a couple of inches to spare. Speaking of flags, I went to a car show this weekend, and there were several Confederate flags being flown. It was in a small country town, where there are lots of "good ole boys" They did have close to 200 cars show up.
