So , hammering on it won't crack it ?? Why wasn't the frame straight in the first place ??

I made some progress today with the windshield posts & frame. I placed the frame in a vise & tightened the vise @ the 2 bottom corners. I couldn't see much change in the warped areas. So , I grabbed a file & got busy. Both bottom corners fit in the posts now. I have to reposition the driver's side post. I'll do that tomorrow. I'll take some photos for you guys.

I did some more sanding on the body area located behind the windshield post. The post fits better now. The gap at the top of the post has closed up. Mean time , I finished glassing in the large hole @ the back of the body & floor.

Now put vasoline on the posts--pack After drilling a few holes -pack with duraglass and tighten the post down after it sets up you will have
the shape of the posts on the body...

I plan to do that next. I didn't know I could use Vaseline. I thought I was supposed to use mold release or carnauba wax. If you did yours by using Vaseline ; then I will too. I have Vaseline , carnauba wax & mold release available.

I watched a few videos on you tube regarding Vaseline as a release agent. So , thanks for the great advice butch27. I also plan to Vaseline the threads on the bolts & the interior brace plate.

WOW !! I finished the passenger side windshield post today. I sanded the area with 80 grit sand paper. I laid the post against the body & marked around it with a sharpie. I masked off the area ( I left a 1/4' SPACE ) with black gorilla tape. I covered the inside & outside of the post with Vaseline. I also applied Vaseline to the corner area of the windshield frame & the 2 bolts. I spread the ," kitty hair " on the body. I quickly bolted the windshield post back in place. I had to spread , "kitty hair" on once more , I still had a few low spots. THIS WAS A PIECE OF CAKE !! Thanks butch27 & cooter , you guys were a great help. I'm going to have to remove my dashboard because most of the windshield frame is inside the car. It looks like custom dash time !! Whoopie !! I'll take some photos tomorrow.

The bottom horizontal piece of the windshield frame has about 1/8" of the frame actually resting on top of the cowl. I plan to space the dashboard 2"s from the windshield frame. It will be about 5"s tall.

This is encouraging. My windshield posts laugh at me every time I get them anywhere near the body.

I did this post 3 times. The one in the photo is me second time. I haven't uncovered the 3rd attempt yet. The drivers side took 2 times. With each try , I add more kitty hair to fill in the low spots. The one posted here is from the passengers side. Tomorrow i'll remove the post & see what I have. If both post look good , i'll move on to welding my headlight brackets to the frame.

I became a tenacious about 10 years ago. I was looking to try something new . I stumbled upon an esoteric group of believers. My car broke down in the Mojave & I walked for days in the grueling hot sun ( without food & water ). I blacked out & when I awoke I was surrounded by beautiful people ( wearing bright halos ). They turned out to be a cross between a staunch atheist & a snake handler. After several days of smoking some strange kind of crap , I looked straight at the glaring sun ( suddenly I saw the light ) & was instantly converted. LOL !! Seriously : thanks for the compliment ( I think you have tenacity confused with stubbornness ). I'll take some more photos today. I promise.

funny how stubbornness gets a bad wrap. i've often been accused of being stubborn in the same breath as being criticized for not doing things the way others would have me do.

stubborn gets us to the moon, cures disease, and gets things built.

Here are some photos I promised to take today. This is the passenger side post , I removed the post 5 times & added kitty hair to the low spots. I finally got it right. Tomorrow i'll remove the driver side post & see if it still needs more kitty hair. I'll take photos of that post tomorrow. I promise. I'll probably start working on the dash board next.

Vaseline is our friend. This is the driver side post. I added more kitty hair after this photo was taken. I'll uncover this tomorrow. I already see a place that I failed to add kitty hair to.

You're putting kitty hair over previous stuff that has been in contact with vaseline?

No , i'm not. I scrub the form with a mixture of dish washing liquid & water. I dry it off completely then I apply more kitty hair. These 3 photos are the driver side post ( form). Now I'll move on to the windshield bracket installation. I will also take a few photos.

Here are the photos I promised of the 2 headlight towers. I started making a buck for my dashboard. I want my gauges to be hooded ( prevent sun glare ). I'll probably never remove the hardtop as long as I own the car. However ; it will be designed to be removed.

The top photo is the front view , the middle photo is the end view & the bottom photo is the rear view. I'm using MDF ( medium density fiber board ) to form my buck. I have 5 more pieces to add to the hooded area.
