Hi all.
I read a post from (I think) tfeverfred on an the HAMB, about this board.. and since I am starting to gather parts and pieces for a T I thought I'd check this place out. Thanks for letting me in.

I only have some rusty old panels from different Ts but ya gotta start somewhere. Right?

I also have a bunch of 30-31 "A" pickup pieces but I think I'd be able to get a T together "easier" with the parts I have.

I recently built a simple E-wheel and plannishing hammer to help with the
task of making new panels. Plus I'm into electrolysis. molasses and Evapo-rust for rust removal.

I had a small repair shop (repair, paint, general stuff) for a decade or so and that's how I fed the family. No pro but I've had enough bloody knuckles to qualify for most clubs. ;)

The last 25 years I've been paying the bills with computers. Now I'm an instructor at the local community college.

After lurking for a month I figured it was time to say "Hi".

If I ever get something worthy of display.. I'll post. Until then.. I'll learn.

Joe

WHO THE HELL LEFT THE DOOR OPEN!

April Fools Joe, :soapbox:

Post up some pics of the shop equipment. We like pics around here. You'll find answers to most questions here. Jump right in.

Thanks Todd.
But.. consider this...
Maybe me joining IS the April fools joke. ;)

I'm just finishing up a trailer (just a utility-type thingy) so I can haul some more parts home. :soapbox:
After that job gets out of the way I'll consider snapping a few pics of stuff to see what the reaction is.
I ain't fancy like most of you folks here. There sure are some really nice vee-hickles shown.
I haven't got any "real" tools like lathes and stuff so don't expect "purty".

Joe

Welcome Joe!

You'll like this place a lot. It's filled with the nicest people you'll ever meet. It sounds like you've been to the same school most of us have (school of knuckle bashing :soapbox:).

Ask lots of questions! And take pictures when you have something to show.

Take care,

David

Joe dont worry about purty just be safe and have fun.Oh WELCOME TO THE FORUM.

Thanks guys!
I know I'll have plenty questions.

Parts are REALLY hard to get around here but I'm starting to gather stuff up nicely. Body panels that I have will just be patterns. Anything worth anything here is tough to find or restored.

I have an orginal frame but I hope to be getting some tubing for a frame in a week or so.

We have major salt air here (can't get much further East on this continent) so rust reigns supreme.

Safe? I've no interest in something ratty and rattley.

Now to do some post reading. Thanks again for the welcome.

Joe

Glad you made it over, Gizmo. There's nothing here but really cool people with a wealth of knowledge. Ask questions and have fun.

Welcome from the other edge of our World.. hehe Bakersfield, Calif. My Brother likes it where you live, has gone there on vacation a couple of times, says it is real purty Country as you call it.. Welcome to T Bucket land.. :soapbox:

Thanks... Glad you mentioned it in a post elsewhere.
Sure seems like decent reading in the threads with very little drama. I have enough drama in my life. ;)

Ted... Glad your brother likes to visit here.
Yup. It's very lovely country. I'm 50, been here all my life and am still learning about the province. I started hiking and camping a few years back at the other end of the province in Cape Breton. That's about 8 hours or more away from me. Can't wait to go back. Maybe next year I'll have a bucket to drive. :soapbox: Ok, maybe the year after.

I'm thrilled to do anything after having back surgery 3 years ago and being told I may not walk.

How far away from Halifax are you? When I was in the Navy, we stopped there for a week on our way home from a Med Cruise. Good times in Halifax! Well, except for $200 I gave to a casino.

Good to see another maritimer here :soapbox: If your short some parts I may be able to hint you in the right direction
Have fun

Yarmouth is approx. 3 hours from Halifax (the big city).
"The Cat" ferry goes from Yarmouth to Maine so we get a lot of traffic from the US. Well, we used to when you folks had more $$ to spend.
Yarmouth it a small town (8 - 10 thousand people in the town) with lots of space in the surrounding countryside.
Hey.. next time you come spend the casino bucks here instead (well, ok.. we DO have gambling places but other places to have fun) and we'll guarantee a return :soapbox:

Thanks.
But you'd want good front brakes! The Cabot trail would be.... "exciting" otherwise.
I could see a group doing the trail with a "herd" of Ts.
Would be a blast.
If you know the area at all you still might not know how many amazing waterfalls, beaches and hiking trails there are in CB.

Funny true story...
Years ago a couple came over for a vacation.
They were going to leave their hotel in the morning to bicycle around the "island" and be back for supper.. Nove Scotia isn't an island.
They had to be told that it's 8 1/2 hour CAR drive from one tip to another, one way!
So much to their biking adventure. ;)

And we've also had people come in August with skis on their car looking for snow.
This ain't the frozen North. ;)
However.. it isn't California weather either. ;)
My T will have some form of cover.

welcome to the site giz! what year T are you looking at? have a couple of bodies here to measure if you need. let me know. i ain't got nothin special just like to see what i can do with a chunk of metal.

Ron

Thanks Ron!

I've been told I have a cowl from a 1926 or 1927 roadster or touring car. The skin is shot so I have started making a new one.
I have it cut out and bent around the skeleton but need to take it to a friend who has a bead roller for the front edge.

I have a couple of doors that will be ok for templates and what once was a drivers side of a coupe that was cut at the belt line.

I have an original T frame and some other tin but it's all just good enough for templates and hope to build a frame based on your plans.

Honestly, I have been gathering up parts for an A truck and had planned on that as my project. I have front fenders, cowl, roof pieces and a full box. Missing for the body are the doors and the cab back.
But the T has always been a favorite of mine and since I have some parts... ;)

I also bought an 8ba that has the bottom end, rings and all but 2 valves lapped in. Not sure if I'll use that for the T or the A.
Probably go with a 4-banger for the T.

As soon as some dust settles I'll post some pictures.
I don't have a garage anymore but use my brothers' place when I can.
Unfortunately it's not a winterized garage so I'm waiting for the warmer weather.

Paper templates of panels would be very helpful once I get rolling and decide exactly what I'll be doing.
I'm no pro by a LONG shot but beating tin doesn't scare me.
And since I put an English wheel together it's a lot nicer.

Thanks again for the welcome guys. This seems like a decent place to stick around. :D

:D Just received my passport card so now I can get in and out of Canada easier. My wife and I have been talking about taking a ride on the "CAT" sometime this summer. Must dock in your back yard!! Enjoy this site as it is the greatest on the net!!!!!

the coupe doors would look strange on the roadster cowl. i think i know where i can get you a pair of roadster doors that need re-skinning. the windshield stop on the cowl could be rolled in with a 3/4" die, done that, works good and almost disappears when you install the windshield. i'm trying real hard to save a roadster body for a customer now. just finished puttin in the firewall. i'll post some pic for you later. this body came off an old roundy round car so it's a mess but it ain't junk till i can't fix it. lol

Ron

Welcome to the site.
As you can see there are lots of guys here to help.
Looks like you have a plan, keep with it and enjoy the ride.
