The Bucket List

Intrepid, Can you shoot a pic of the the spindle? The king pin end?

Will do, sorry for the late response I must have missed the notification.
I have some other pics to post tomorrow night as well.

Ok sorry for the late response.
I am prety sure it is a Chevy G10 van, maybe 64-66ish. Scoobydoo style snub nose

This is what it looks like.
I would really like some confirmation before I order all new wheel cylinders and springs.
Like I said it has a 5X4.75 bolt pattern, with 2.5" wide shoes, and the drums are 9.5" inside diameter

Finally got the steering box mount fabricated.
This was a challenge.
It needed to be removable because the Corvair box is threaded, it bolts home from the bottom, and I wanted it to be serviceable.
The goofy angle these things mount on and the tight tolerance as well as clearance is what made it tricky.
I started with two pieces of angle and modified from there.

I added a few gussets for extra support.
Still need to hit it with the file and sander to clean it up.

@Gerry
Inspired by your windshield posts, and after looking at windshield frames and other mounting posts, the costs are out to lunch.
I am ordering stainless and making my own.
I got the 308 wire and a new nozzle on order for the welder, but a welder friend of mine suggested I change the gas.
Did you change your gas up for welding stainless ??

Ya, you need 308 wire to weld the 304 stock material, its on order.
Questioning the gas though, getting different opinions from online searches.

These were made in mild steel and polished. I was thinking of having them brass plated but went with powder coat instead. Just built up the gaps then dressed it all back. At least this way you can get the bends to match your own body shape.

Ignore the welds ,, this is mock up with the cheap stuff before I get into the stainless.
Now that I know where the column is going to be I can mock up the break and gas peddle.

The two lights on the sides of the speedo will be switched out for the turn signal lights,, the chev logo light will be converted to a shift light.
The speedo will be raised higher than it is to accommodate the tach.
And I will have proper gauges for temp, oil pressure, and more.

Little more progress .. got the brake peddle and master mocked up.

Modified Ron's break peddle to allow me to move my master.

Intrep: Can you put up some pics of the door and the hinge? I don't see one sticking out like the model T ones. Yours looks clean and I am just now wooding my door for cutting. Thanks

I will try end get some pics for you tomorrow.. right now its up on the block and tackle .
Its not as clean as I would like but the line is straight, right now its on there with an old piano hinge just to keep it in place and functional.
I plan on changing that out with these from Lee Valley

SOSS® Invisible Hinges - Lee Valley Tools

That should clean it up just right
The only drawback is that when it opens, it opens in a slight downward angle.
But it still has plenty of clearance for the pipes so I'm not really worried about it.
