Hairpin radius rods - Youngster's Plans

In Ron Young's Plans, his parts list include 1 set of 36" radius rods and 1 set of 27" radius rods, which I purchased from Speedway. He starts out with the 36" hairpin setup for the front axle, and I'm assuming the 27 inchers are for the rear. If the 27s are workable, great for me, but they seem short in comparison with other builders. Comments welcomed.

On the rear hairpins, I would add a brace about in the center if you are going to going to put a lot of torque to the rear tires. The have been known to twist enough to bend the two rods together.
