"Black Dahlia"

Lug nuts arrived and look good. Now....... tires. I'm still on the fence regarding beauty rings. I'll know for sure, when the tires are mounted up. Otherwise, it's been a boring, restful day.

In love with the simplicity of the T Bucket.

Found out the size of the rear wheels I want are discontinued. BUT....... Summit has a pair in one of their off site stores, so I'm ordering them today. A little before schedule, but they have the back spacing I want. So....... moving forward.:)

Way to go, Fred. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and go for it! If they're what you really want, you won't ever be sorry.

Yup. Done and.... done! They'll be here the middle of next week. I may go ahead and order the fronts Monday. They'll be coming from Jegs. (Summit charges tax for folks in Texas. Jegs doesn't.;))

Wheels are on the way!:D

Woo-hoooo! So, are you going to be standing out in the street looking for the brown truck??? :p:laugh::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Naw. I stopped doing that a while back. Now, I'll just check the tracking numbers 4 times an hour.D)

So what wheel tire combo did you finally end up with ?? pics ??

Well, I'll be....... my wheels arrived today! Opened the boxes, drooled and repacked them, as I save up for tires. It was a welcome surprise that they came a few days early. My motivation is renewed.:)

I chose Cragar 69 Delux wheels. Instead of a Spider cap, I'm using a "bullet" insert and "bullet" lug nuts.(posted earlier) I chose the "bullet" insert instead of Spider caps because I'd read that the caps sometimes work loose or rattle sometimes. As I looked at the wheels, I'm still not sure if I'll use trim rings or not. If I do, it's almost a final choice, because upon installing the rings, the powder coat will be scratched and opting out would require re-coating the wheels.

Tires will be black wall radials. 165/80/15's for the front and either 235/70/15's or 215/85/15's for the rear.

I prefer the beauty rings that attach to the outside perimeter over the type that press into the rim, but they still scratch the rim some.

beauty rings gives that little bit of finesse, just a touch of shiny can be really nice. Sort of indicates you have taken the time to 'finish' things off.

I personally like to see a separation between the tire and the wheel. The all black look that is popular today reminds me of the cheaper toy cars that we played with back in the day. Those cars had hard black rubber or plastic wheels with no definition as to a wheel or hubcap. I'm just an old fart that can't kick that feeling of cheap looking toy cars. IMHO

Idea: try using silver paint to create a visual trim ring. I did this on my nephew's Jeep several years ago, and thought it looked pretty good. The key is to mask the wheels off very carefully, and use good rattle can paint, like auto touch-up paint.

Jim and Gerry, I read your comments on that look earlier.:) I'm still on the fence. Once my car is closer to completion, body, etc., I'll make a decision. On my last T, I waited a year or two before getting trim rings and they did improve the look. I'll wait and see what happens this time, too. I'm going for a certain "look" and I'm not sure the rings will work with it.......yet.

No.... it'll be rings or not. My last ones were stainless and looked great...... for THAT build.;)
