I have a T P I body & frame with a 305 Chev-vy motor & TH 350 tranny with a Pinto floor shifter and I would like to have a neutral switch . When ever I reach in over the body & start it. I hope it is in park. I talked to a guy in Kansas City who reached in & started his t bucket & it was in drive .It run over him [ bruised from the waist to his ankle on his leg]. His wife was near by, run & shut it off. Any ideas how to put a neutral switch on my car????

I was planning on interupting the wire from my starter switch to the solinoid and run it through the stop light switch. That way my car can only be started if your foots on the brake. Just an option. -Don
Replace the shifter with a new one, Most of the B&M shifters have a netral lock out switch as well as a back up switch built in. (Ct. requires both) I found a Z-Gate shifter at Pep-Boys on close out for $65
Or make a bracket to mount a N.O. switch near the shift linkage so that its in contact with the shifter in the park postion.
But whatever you do, make sure its adjusted properly, even with a new shifter unless you adjust it corectly, the car will still start in gear and run over the flower bed...Don't ask me how I know this

Thank you for your help, I ordered A TH 350 neutral Switch ,that goes to the shift linkage. I think if a guy drove his ''t'' in the flower bed, a picture if that would look good on his christmas card.....

For safety sake....make sure it won't start in anything but neutral. On my race builds...I use a B&M T-Handle with the button....have to press that to light it off...on street cars, have to have it in neutral and press the button....sorta dead mans switch.
