TH350 shift and gurgle issues

Morning all....... My bucket had a leaky warped pan, which was fixed by installing a new Moroso gasket and a Summit polished aluminum pan. After this was all done, and fluid added, it wouldn't engage any gear. I adjusted the linkage, and added a little more fluid and got it to move, but it doesn't seem to want to shift. Could it be a modulator valve? Not enough fluid? Wrong fluid? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

I also forgot the gurgle issue. After i heat it up and shut it off, I can hear fluid gurgling in the trans. It sounds like it wants to come out of the dipstick tube. Thanks again

Sounds like it not picking up fluid. Did the trans work before you
change fluid and filter?

Did you get the right filter?
Did you remove the old seal on the filter tube?
Did you install the new seal on the filter tube?
Is the pan shorter and blocking the filter inlet? You need about 3/8" clearance.

Or is the new pad deeper and you didn't install a spacer between the filter and the valve body? If so, it's possible you don't have enough fluid in the pad and the filter is just sucking air.

After putting fluid back in the pan....did you check the level with the engine running? If you check the level without the engine running and without the fluid being pumped thru the transmission, the full mark on the stick will be several quarts low.

Sure sounds like a pickup issue. Did you install a new filter? I installed a really deep pan which came with a new longer pickup tube. And it needed around 3 more quarts of fluid.
