"Black Dahlia"

Okay, so the parts showed an hour ago. One word......BEAUTIFUL. Everything is TIG welded with textbook beads. My buddy was here and he's a fabricator, he said, "There's no way I could've made that brake bracket for what you paid and I would have MIGed it." The brake bracket came with a blueprint for placement on the frame. The trans mount has tabs attached and holes drilled for the piece that attaches the trans section. The bracket is drilled for EVERY popular transmission.

I'd post a pic of the brake bracket, but it's EXACTLY like the pic Resinator posted on page 1 of this thread. So, sometime this week, I'll recheck my measurements, borrow my buds SBC mock up and tack the pieces onto my frame. Pics probably this weekend.

FEDEX still sucks.:D

Okay...... couldn't help it.

Brake bracket welds. Also, notice the pedal arm has that "stop" to prevent from moving back too far.

Cross member/trans mount.

Nice pieces. Pretty creative on the trans mount. Keeps from having to make multiple mounts for each customer.

Parts porn.

That's the steering box mount. It gets welded to the top of the frame rail, a few inches in front of the firewall.

The master cylinder arrived today, so I mocked it up.

Looks like you should have plenty of leverage on the pedal. Same m/c as I am using.

It's always looked like a good set up, but I still shopped around. When I saw Paul's, the deal was sealed. The push rod that came with the CCR set up, is a lot better than the one that came with the master cylinder. That's the CCR push rod in the pic.

Well, my friend had a family emergency and will be closed for a week, maybe two. So, no welding for a while. Which is actually okay because I still need to get Ron's rear suspension set up. Speaking of which, looking at some T Buckets with fairly stout power plants and just general researching and talking, I've decided that the stout ladder bars from Ron would be over kill. So, instead, I'll be going with his rear suspension kit. It includes 1" DOM radius rods and all the hardware.

BUT, what I'd REALLY like are a set of polished stainless steel radius rods from Speedway. A little pricey, so they'll be on a wish list I have tucked away. If I get a good week of overtime, I may go for it. I'll see what happens.

Radius rods/ladder bars are some of the easier things to fabricate yourself. Even SS tubing isn't that difficult to work with.

Yea, they are, but I'll give Ron some business. At his kit price, it's a better way to go for me. I did SS welding at my old job and got fairly good at it.

DearJournal,

Making a change in my choice of rear ends. I hope everyone......naw..... screw that. I know "I'LL" like it. Just trying to get this damn thing on the road. Someone hinted at wanting to know where my build is headed. This is where it's freakin' headed.......

I still do!

HELL YEA! It comes on here at 11:30PM. I've had to start work at 3am and STILL stayed up to watch it. Did you notice that intro was digitally modified?
I like this one.

I think my project started out in the Twilight Zone...then got weirder by the day.

Okay...... back to my bucket stuff. I'm always researching and keeping an eye out for little bits that can be tossed into my mix. Well, a couple weeks ago, I discovered leaf spring wraps. Back in the day, wraps or tape, was used to keep the grease in between spring leaves. I was on the HAMB and found a source for these. These pics are of the wrap on a cardboard mock up. They've got a tongue on them and lace up, just like a boot.

Do I "need" them? Heck no. But they're cool and different.:D I'm ordering a pair for my front spring. In black, of course. I'm going to mount one on each side of my exposed front spring.

Now I know what happened to my pole climber boot tops. Those are pretty good looking covers. I think it beats the heat shrink that I have seen on some. Good find, Fred.
