Low Slung T

I got a lot of work done glassing my floor in. This brought up an important question. How many ounces of glass should I use to hold the plywood in?? I have 3 ounces in it now. I can add more if needed.

I used my leftover plywood to make a table for my glass. Worked out pretty nicely.

Started no the drivers side.

Then moved to the passenger side and received my some help. My wife took this cool time lapse video. Hopefully the link works...

This guy came out and said NO WAY!!

I also got the bottom glassed in.

FluidFloyd - I have my stuff together. Two fire extinguisher, a first aid kit, ventilation, all chemicals labeled, guards on my grinders, and a two beer max. Lol. My housekeeping could use some work but that's the joys of a small garage.

I think I'm going to take a break for a few weeks. Getting kind of burnt out. Going to stock pile some parts and do some thinking/planning.

Hoping to get some parts in this week so I can get back into it. Seems like I'm in a critical spot now that placement of a lot of things is dependent on other things. Body mounts and gas pedal depend on the brakes. Steering depends on the pedals and the headers. Rear body mount(AKA cross member and safety loop) depends on the driveshaft. Transmission and Driveshaft tunnel depends on the body being mounted. Once all these parts come in, I can start mocking things up to see how they all fit together.

It was like Christmas time in my garage last night. I have my brake pedal assembly, gas pedal, and steering column now.
I did a little mocking up and the brake pedal/master cylinder setup is going to equal minor setbacks. With my body sitting so far back on my transmission, the master cylinder runs into the cross member. So I will need to address that. To be honest, I wasn't a fan of my cross member and wanted to redo it anyway. I'll get some pics later.
Right now I'm wondering how far from the firewall to place the pedal. I am kind of thinking it should be decided by a combination of how much travel it has and where I will be setting in the car...
I have a few things to do first though:
1- redo panhard mount. On the agenda to begin tonight. I already have a template.
2- Add 1/2" plywood to firewall.
3-Mount the body. Now that I have the brake pedal I can see where about the front left mount will need to go.
4-get my seat insert in place.
5- Move to the pedal and steering column.

Here is a picture of what I was talking about with the master cylinder and cross member interference.

Since they both want to be in the same place and the Master Cylinder seems to be the least willing to move, I was thinking about making my cross member like this.

This should do the trick although I have to make sure that my metal is not as crooked as it is in this pic. ha.
This will give me room for my master cylinder and should also give me some mounting pints for my body.

This insert came with the body. At first I didn't think it was going to fit when I channeled my rear kicks ups but low and behold it still does. The floor does need lowered a bit and the tunnel needs redone but that stuff is minor. Also, its actually pretty comfortable and sets me down into the body nicely. Also will leave me some room under the seats for the battery, computer and fuse box.

I need to start remembering to take pictures...
I finished redoing the panhard mount last night. Now my bar will sit level at ride height. I'll get pictures later.
I also started to redo my transmission cross member. Kind of like I drew above I'm just not using a cross bar though. It will work out nicely for master cylinder clearance.

Looks like the cross member only needs to move about 6". I think I would keep it as close to trans mount as possible. Insert looks pretty good, and should save you quite a bit of work.

Look at the CCR [Ted brown] rear crossmember/trans mount design ...I think RPM has it also , , frees up alot of room ...

Mine crossmember runs straight across like yours. I have this "ear" made out of 3/8" plate.

Thanks guys. That crossmember won't work because of the position of my engine and trans in the frame. It sits higher than most and the crossmember would run right into the transmission.
Right now I'm working on something like choppinczezh's. Rather than being straight across mine will kick back 30 degrees.

And...I just figured out how to upload pictures from my phone!! They are usually too large to do so. That's a huge win.
